CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A family's 8-year-old daughter just started third grade Monday at Charles Boger Elementary School, but it’s a struggle to get the child to class.

The parents said her bus stop was moved nearly one mile from their Cabarrus County home, and the third-grader has no choice but to make the long trek alone.
