CMPD says east Charlotte homicide was justified

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said on July 29 that deadly shooting case in east Charlotte March 14 was a “justified homicide.”

Officers were called to the scene just before 5 p.m. on Delta Lake Drive near East W.T. Harris Boulevard and The Plaza.

Police said they found a car in the road and 18-year-old Milton Howard was inside fatally shot. MEDIC confirmed he died at the scene.

CMPD told Channel 9 they had two people of interest in the case.

“We’re not looking for any additional persons in this case,” said Maj. Brian Foley. “It is too early to tell the motivation or reason behind the incident.”

Police said they believe the victim and suspects were passing through the area, and there were no threats to neighbors.
