CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD recognized officers who have gone above and beyond to connect with the community.
Anchor Erica Bryant hosted CMPD’s 40th annual award ceremony Friday night at the Bank of America Stadium.
WSOC General Manager Cedric Thomas and Reporter DaShawn Brown presented The Community Relations Award.
The officers chosen were nominated by the city's residents.
"What I like about this, is that you got a lot of people from all walks of life who have come here to celebrate the good that our officers are doing, and it's a good feeling,” Chief Kerr Putney said. “I've been encouraging them and when they hear it directly from the community, it's 1,000 times better."
Twenty-one semi-finalists and 12 finalists received the award.
