Construction starts on Locust’s first brewery

LOCUST, N.C. — Locust’s first brewery is under construction at the Locust Town Center mixed-use development. A groundbreaking was held last week for The Brew Room, which will fill a 4,600-square-foot building planned for a site at Bank Street and Ray Kennedy Drive across from Locust City Hall.

The $1.2 million project is expected to open in the first quarter next year. It will create 25 jobs with brewery staff positions.

“We want to establish this as a destination,” says Matthew Harris, co-owner of The Brew Room.
