Cooper attends official opening of Honeywell’s global headquarters in uptown

CHARLOTTE — Honeywell officially opened its global headquarters in Charlotte on Wednesday morning.

The Fortune 100 company hosted an event for the opening at 11 a.m. with its CEO, government and local officials, and honored guests, including Gov. Roy Cooper.

Honeywell broke ground in October of 2018 and the company was expected to bring 750 jobs to Charlotte. Honeywell makes everything from airplane cockpits to security systems.

“We’ve hired many from the great state of North Carolina with its impressive pool of talent,” said Honeywell CEO Darius Adamczyk.

The new 23-story tower on Church Street will overlook Bank of America Stadium.

Some employees started commuting to these new offices a few weeks ago, working three days a week in person and the option to work from home the other two days.

Honeywell employees are required to get the vaccine.

State, county and city incentives totaling more than $87 million lured Honeywell to Charlotte, and Cooper said the investment is well worth it for the community and state.

“This is a place that companies can come, succeed, thrive,” Cooper said.
