CHARLOTTE — A fundraiser for the family of fallen Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Officer Mia Goodwin raised $27,000 for her family, organizers announced Wednesday.
The event was called Craft Brewers for a Cause and it was held at Suffolk Punch Brewing in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood. It featured food, a live DJ, and of course, beer tasting.
The foundation is made up of volunteers from local first responder agencies who are passionate about helping our fellow partners in times of need.
Tickets were $50 and all proceeds went to the family of Officer Mia Goodwin. You can still donate to the Goodwin family -- all donations are tax deductible. Click here for more information.
Officer Goodwin was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler on Dec. 22, 2021. The truck’s driver, Daniel Morgan, faces several charges in the case, including involuntary manslaughter.
