GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Interstate 85 northbound was closed Thursday night at Exit 21 (Cox Road) near Belmont in Gaston County due to a crash, officials said.
The interstate was expected to reopen at 11:30 p.m. Thursday. NCDOT later said the road reopened before 1 a.m. Friday.
Detour:
- Take Exit 20 (New Hope Road)
- Turn right onto New Hope Road
- Continue to U.S. 74
- Turn left onto U.S. 74 and travel about 1.1 miles
- Turn left onto Cox Road to re-access I-85
