Crews work to remove branches near power lines ahead of Hurricane Florence

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Every time a powerful storm is expected to hit the Charlotte area, there's always a concern that large trees and branches could fall on top of power lines.

Channel 9 found a crew doing contract work for Duke Energy, removing large branches near power lines in Dilworth on Monday morning. Crews hope maintenance efforts will help prevent trees from damaging power lines and knocking out power to Charlotte families.
