Crisis Assistance Ministry, national nonprofit hand out coats to local families in need

CHARLOTTE — Over 100 Charlotte families will not have to worry about keeping warm this winter.

In collaboration with the national nonprofit, One Warm Coat, Crisis Assistance Ministry and many volunteers handed out 120 free coats to local families in need on Saturday afternoon. The giveaway was held at Crisis Assistance Ministry on Spratt Street from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

One Warm Coat doesn’t only provide coats to families in need, the charity also promotes volunteering and environmental stability. Over the past three decades, the nonprofit has organized over 43,000 coat drives, collected 7.3 million coats, and worked with over 1,400 nonprofit partners across the country.
