Custom clothier arrives in uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An international purveyor of custom-made men’s suits has set up shop at WeWork uptown, with a fitting studio aimed at catering to workers in center city.

Kashiyama the Smart Tailor, which bills itself as “Japan’s top made-to-measure suit brand,” was established in 2017 by parent company The Onward Group and expanded to the U.S. last year through partnerships with WeWork facilities in major cities.

Customers meet with the style advisor in a one-on-one session to get measured and choose from over 200 fabrics, buttons and suiting options, according to an email from a spokeswoman. The suit is then ordered, made and delivered about 10 days.
