Woman dies from self-inflicted gunshot wound, deputies say

MONROE, N.C. — A woman has died following a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday night, according to the Monroe Police Department.

The incident occurred just before 10:45 p.m. on the 1400 block of Walkup Avenue.

Police said they initially received reports about a missing person.

At the scene, they found a 28-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to deputies.

Deputies said evidence at the scene indicates the woman died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

There is no threat to the public, and they are not looking for any suspects in this case.
