Man pleads guilty to strangulation of 88-year-old woman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Robert Nixon plead guilty to the murder of 88-year old, Dorothy Gregg on Thursday.

Medical examiners originally ruled that Gregg's death was from natural causes. After Gregg's family noticed her credit card was missing, detectives were able to use surveillance video from the stores where the stolen card was used to link the murder to Nixon.

Nixon admitted to strangling and robbing Gregg so he could get money for crack. He will now spend at least 30 years in prison on second-degree murder charges.

Nixon apologized to Gregg's family through his attorney.
