ROCK HILL, S.C. — Two Charlotte parents were arrested after police said they swapped drugs and prepared to use heroin while their 1-year-old child was with them inside a Rock Hill home.
Police found Michael Damon, 42, and Rebecca McAlister, 36, at a home on Long Street with heroin, needles and polls, sheriff deputies said.
Another man, Edward Ball Jr., 42, who lived at the home, was arrested the next day and charged with possession of heroin, possession of Xanax and unlawful neglect of a child.
Deputies said they were first called to the home for an overdose when they found the child in the home. Authorities said the child also didn't have proper clothing on for this time of year.
Drug unit commander, Jim Lubben, said the child "was dressed without regard for the extreme cold."
Damon and McAlister were both charged with possession of heroin and unlawful neglect of a child, deputies said.
Ball, who was taken to the hospital after overdosing, was later arrested.
