Detectives investigate homicide at McDonald’s in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Detectives are investigating a homicide Monday night in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in south Charlotte, officials said.

First responders were called to the McDonald’s on South Boulevard near East Arrowood Road at about 8 p.m. and found someone who had been shot in the parking lot.

The McDonald’s was roped off with crime scene tape and multiple shell casings could be seen on the ground.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two people.

Antonio Brimmer, 30, died at the scene.

“At this time, this is an active investigation,” CMPD Major Brian Foley said. “We are not looking for any other persons of interest in this case.”

Channel 9 reporter Anthony Kustura spoke with neighbors who said they want something to be done to stop the violence.

Many told Channel 9 that they want police to step up patrols and for people to put down their guns.

“I want something to be done about it, you know,” Marcus Cook said.

Teresa Williams said that she was driving home when she saw police lights.

“These days, you know, I guess people don’t have that old-school mentality. Some people just don’t get it,” Williams said.

Last month, CMPD said someone was shot and seriously injured while in the drive-thru lane at the same McDonald’s.

CMPD did not say whether the two scenes are connected.
