Developer trims residential plans, adds park space for Matthews project

Pappas Properties is seeking to rezone a site in Matthews to allow for the development of Santé Matthews, a mixed-use project with residential and commercial uses.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Pappas Properties has filed an updated master plan as it pursues needed approvals for its proposed mixed-use project in Matthews.

Last week, the Charlotte-based developer completed its new master plan for Santé Matthews after discussions with town leaders throughout the approvals process.

Pappas Properties is seeking to rezone 82 acres at Stallings and Idlewild roads to accommodate the project, which calls for a range of commercial and residential uses.

The updated master plan includes reduced residential density for the project, as well as more park and open space adjacent to surrounding neighborhoods.

In the updated master plan, the overall residential density for the project comes in at 570 units. Pappas Properties’ original proposal called for 662 units.
