CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Saturday, the Department of Motor Vehicles is open on weekends.
The west Charlotte DMV office on Brookshire Boulevard will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon.
Just like during the week, it will offer driver's license services and road tests, but the motorcycle test will not be offered on weekends.
The state said adding another day will spread out the amount of customers and improve customer service.
Some people Eyewitness News spoke with agreed.
"To come do anything, you have to stand in line for hours, and an extra day being open I think it may actually improve. It is still packed today, but I think it helps," said Jaquanna Harris.
The state said its west Charlotte office is one of the busiest in the state, serving nearly 3,600 customers per year.
