MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Elevated levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been detected in the hybrid striped bass found in Lake Norman.
A fish consumption advisory has been released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services due to the increased risk for liver and immune system effects caused by consuming the fish.
No more than two meals per week should contain the hybrid striped bass from Lake Norman while the advisory is in effect, officials said.
Wading, swimming, boating and coming in contact with the fish pose no threat during the advisory.
