CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 is digging deeper into the major lawsuit that not only names former Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx but also a NASCAR owner and huge city land developer, as well.
It all stems from the bus company DesignLine, which has now gone bankrupt. An investigator working to find out where DesignLine's money went is now trying to get some of it back for creditors and is suing more than a dozen companies that did business with the bus company before it went under in 2013.

Bryan Stone is a bankruptcy attorney and represents creditors in this case. He told Channel 9, "The scope has to be large to try to pay all of these people back some of their money."
Tuesday, Channel 9 reported former Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx is also being sued. According to the suit, he didn't fulfill his job as corporate lawyer for the bus company and still collected more than $420,000, including overtime pay.
Eyewitness News anchor Liz Foster went to Buster Glosson's house, in south Charlotte. The highly decorated veteran was chairman of the board for DesignLine.
According to the lawsuit, Hendrick Motorsports gave Glosson a $800,000 loan for DesignLine, but the money "directly benefited Glosson."
When Liz Foster asked Glosson about the accusation, he replied, “The lawsuit is absolutely, flagrantly wrong."
If it comes out in court that leaders of DesignLine conned investors, the investigation could turn criminal.
"Anytime the word deception is brought up, you could raise the ear of other bodies like the FBI, the U.S. attorney," Stone said.
Hendrick Motorsports did not have anything to add when reached for comment. More lawsuits are expected to be filed within the next 24 hours.
