GAFFNEY, S.C. — An employee at a fast food restaurant in Gaffney, South Carolina, was hurt Friday morning after lightning struck the building, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms and rain have been moving across the Carolinas since early Friday morning, with more lightning reaching the ground in the earlier hours before noon, according to Severe Weather Center 9.
But just after 6:30 a.m., the National Weather Service reported that a lightning strike hit a fast food restaurant in Gaffney. The NWS says an employee was working at the drive-thru window when the lightning strike happened, and they were hurt.
The restaurant wasn’t named, and the employee hasn’t been identified, but ABC affiliate WJBF reported that the employee survived. Channel 9 is working on getting more information.
