CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle in a January crash that killed a 73-year-old woman.
Bernice Whitmire was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Milton Road on Jan. 26. She was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.
Police said the driver, Kendra Huey, gave a statement at the time and cooperated with detectives.
After completing an investigation, police said warrants were signed against Huey for misdemeanor death by vehicle with the cause being failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
She turned herself in earlier this week, police said.
