Driver killed after car hits trees, overturns near Lancaster

A driver died in a wreck Saturday near Lancaster after his or her car ran off the road and overturned.

The single-car wreck happened around 1:45 p.m. about 6 miles north of Lancaster on Unity Church Road.

A 2011 Kia SUV went off of the left side of the road and when the driver overcorrected, it went off of the right side

of the road, hitting two trees, a fence and then overturning, according to officials.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.

The driver was taken by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center, where he or she later died.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
