Drywall contractor accused of stealing appliances from homes under construction

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Detectives in Union County have filed charges against a Charlotte man who they said broke into as many as six new homes under construction in an Indian Land subdivision.

Authorities told Channel 9 that Noe Zeferino Garcia, 29, has been charged with possession of stolen goods and six felony counts of breaking and entering and larceny.

Deputies said that over the past three weeks, Bonterra Builders has reported several burglarized homes in the Union Grove subdivision. Among the items stolen were appliances like microwaves, ranges, and refrigerators.

Union County detectives, assisted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, approached Garcia’s home Tuesday morning on Rutgers Avenue in Charlotte and found several stolen appliances.

Detectives determined that Garcia is a drywall contractor but are not clear if he worked on any of the homes that were burglarized.
