JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a Ford F350 with a passenger in the back of the truck crashed into a Toyota Sequoia on New Kings Road early Sunday morning.

After the truck crashed into the SUV, the truck hit the curb and flipped several times, causing the passenger in the truck bed to be ejected.

The ejected passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup and the female driver, the sole occupant of the SUV, were uninjured, according to JSO.

Speed was a factor in the crash, according to JSO. It is unclear if alcohol was also a factor.

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what led to the crash but said they are talking to witnesses and gathering video evidence for their investigation. No one has been charged at this time.

According to JSO, this is the 179th traffic fatality in Jacksonville this year.
