Electric buses coming to Charlotte airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte City Council approved a $4.5 million contract Tuesday night to buy five electric buses for the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

[City proposes Charlotte Douglas Airport swap diesel shuttle buses for electric]

The city wants to start transitioning to an electric fleet by 2020.

The buses cost more money than those that run on diesel but are more durable and a couple hundred thousand dollars cheaper to operate.
