Fall Back: How daylight saving time impacts our mood

As nice as it sounds to get an extra hour of sleep this weekend, many people may have negative impacts on their mood.

Daylight saving time can increase symptoms of seasonal depression in some due to lack of sunlight. Although this is a temporary form of depression, it can lead to symptoms like insomnia, irritability, anxiety and in some cases, feelings of worthlessness.

It may take your body some time to adjust to its new schedule, but there are ways to keep your mood uplifted headspace during this time of year.

Those ways include:

  • Getting out into the sun when you can.
  • Limiting caffeine intake.
  • Moving a little each day.
  • Staying connected with friends and family.
