HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Family members concerned about the mysterious eye cancer cluster will hear from the doctor at the forefront of the investigation Thursday night in the Huntersville Town Hall.
Dr. Mike Brennan is studying the 17 confirmed cases of ocular melanoma in the area.
Experts are stumped because the illness is extremely rare and usually impacts five in 1 million people.
Genetic testing did not find a clear link in the local cases.
They've already tested the soil at Hopewell High School where some patients attended, worked or lived nearby.
Those results were inconclusive.
Brennan is using state grant money to test other environmental factors.
