Fans flock to Panthers ‘Back Together’ training camp

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Fans arrived by the busload and surrounded Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg for this year’s Panthers Back Together training event on Saturday morning.

As always, practices were free and open to the public, giving fans a better shot at an autograph opportunity. Channel 9′s Phil Orban and DaShawn Brown saw the lines wrapped around the stadium as fans anxiously waited for the training camp to begin.

Training camp is a chance for fans and players to have some fun before the season starts. As soon as fans entered the stadium, there were activities for everyone, from face painting to a jumbo slide.

The main event, of course, was to see the team in action, especially the new quarterback, Bryce Young, who was greeted with applause the moment he set foot on the field. One fan told Channel 9 that the Panthers aren’t his favorite team, but he’s excited to see Young’s potential.

“He was so good in college. I’m just ready to see what he can do in the NFL because I don’t know if he might be good or bad,” Jaden Long said.

For Panthers fan Shep Thiel, this is the first time in a while they’ve been hopeful and even excited for the new season.

“I’m really hopeful, which is the first time I’ve been hopeful in a minute for this team,” Tiel told Channel 9, “but I’m actually really excited. I love being here. I love being a Panthers fan.”
