“I can feel it vividly as I’m talking to ya’ll,” Richard Sings Sr. said. “That pain that they sent. It’s like it’s still killing me at this moment.”

He went to Rockingham Friday watch his son, a Vance High School football standout player, in a playoff game.

His other son allegedly got into a dispute at the front gate and was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Sings got on Facebook Live first and went to get answers. “Can you explain to me why you locked my son up?”

Sings could be heard saying on the video. “What he do wrong?”

“I don’t have anything to say to you,” a deputy said.

“Why you don’t? This is your duty to talk to me,” Sings said.

A few seconds passed when a deputy said, “Put your hands behind your back.”

“Man, I ain’t gotta put nothing behind my back,” Sings said in the video.

There was a long tussle involving several officers before Sings was shocked with a Taser several times. He said he could feel his body go limp.

“They could have killed me down there,” Sings said.

He was arrested for resisting and assault on an officer, and wants those charges dropped. Sings was given a $150,000 bond that was later lowered by a judge and he was released.

The Facebook video has been seen by many people who are angry.

“This should never happen,” said Darrell Stubbs, who supports Sings.“We need justice in this county.”

Reporter Ken Lemon asked Sings, who had a past conviction for manslaughter, if he thought his criminal history had an impact.

“It was 20 years ago and I think it’s really irrelevant,” Sings said. “Any man would have walked in front of that man and he would have did him the same way.”

There is a rally planned for Sings in front of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.

The Richmond County sheriff hasn’t commented on the case.

Vance plays in the NCHSAA state championship game Saturday and players will wear decals of Sings’ initials on their helmets.
