FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a young mother of seven was shot to death in a Fayetteville home, WTVD reported.
Chakita Jones, 25, was unresponsive when officials arrived at the scene Friday and took her to a nearby hospital, police said.
Jones was later transported to UNC Medical Center, where she died Saturday evening.
Jones’s sister, Mia Fuller, said Jones was at home with four of her children when shots were fired and was found holding one of her children, trying to protect them from the gunshots.
Jones’s youngest child is 2 months old and her oldest is 12 years old.
Fuller said Jones’ would have turned 26 in just four days.
No arrests have been made in connection with her death.
