FBI arrests woman in string of jewelry store robberies across the southeast

NORTH CAROLINA — The FBI said it has identified and arrested a woman believed to be involved in several jewelry store robberies across the southeast, including one in North Carolina.

The FBI Jacksonville branch said 24-year-old Abigail Kemp is in custody.

She was arrested in Georgia Friday.

Authorities said they also took a person she was with into custody but will not release any information regarding that person until they have more information.

The FBI in Charlotte said Kemp is linked to a robbery in Mebane, North Carolina on Jan. 4.

Investigators said she held two employees at Jared's jewelry store at gunpoint and stole items from the display case.

Kemp is accused of robbing six stores spanning the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
