GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A fight near a North Carolina high school culminated in gunshots.
The Goldsboro News-Argus reports that four people are in custody following the altercation two streets down from Eastern Wayne High School on Wednesday afternoon.
Maj. Robert Thaxton with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said authorities are searching for a potential fifth suspect, after receiving differing counts from the detained suspects as to how many people were involved.
The high school and Eastern Wayne Elementary School were temporarily placed on lockdown.
Authorities say the altercation didn't take place on campus property.
The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending.
