Wells Fargo and the City of Charlotte have announced the return of a program that assists potential homebuyers with their down payment. Neighborhood Lift will return for two days next month.
Residents in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union and Rowan counties can apply for a $15,000 grant, while teachers and first responders can receive up to $17,500 in down payment assistance.
Kimberly Sauer was one of 312 Charlotte residents who received assistance through the program last time.
Sauer, who was making $50,000 a year with the city, said it gave her the boost she needed to buy her home.
“I got really lucky and found a great neighborhood ... and was able to get close to my friends and my church,” she said.
