CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department said a fire at a west Charlotte apartment complex early Sunday morning was intentionally set.
The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. at the Colonial Place Apartments on Springmont Lane off Freedom Drive.

According to CFD, 27 firefighters were able to contain the flames in under 30 minutes.
Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set and caused about $45,000 in damage.

The Red Cross is helping residents who were displaced.
No injuries were reported.
