CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the first time since serving time in federal prison for taking bribes while serving as Charlotte's mayor, Patrick Cannon made his radio debut
In his first weekly radio public affairs show on 105.3 Saturday morning, Cannon talked about faith pulling him through tough times.
"I asked for forgiveness and forgiveness from Him, I got,” Cannon said.
Several listeners called in during the first show called "At the table with Cannon" to voice support.
Cannon spoke about how he was treated by some after making what he called "a costly mistake."
"I just wouldn't be written off by some, but whipped and buried alive; not 6 feet down, but 12 feet under,” Cannon said.
Cannon ended his program with advice to listeners about focusing, not on others, but about making yourself a better person.
"Worry about you,” Cannon said. “Work on you being back in the saddle for the new day that awaits you. Stay up, stay strong, stay faithful."
