Gastonia police respond to 911 call for heart attack, find gunshot victim

GASTONIA, N.C. — What started as a 911 call for a heart attack took a turn Thursday, when police said they found a man with a gunshot wound inside a Gastonia home.

Police identified the man as Issac Lynn, who they said later died at a hospital.

Channel 9 went to the home on West McFarland Avenue where we attempted to speak to Lynn's grief-stricken mother, but she declined.

Eyewitness News Gaston County bureau reporter Ken Lemon has been asking investigators who fired the weapon but very few details about what led to Lynn's death have been released.

Police said they are working to determine whether or not the shooting was accidental.

According to officials, it will be up to the district attorney’s office to decide if charges will be filed in the shooting.

Lynn was a suspect in a 2011 murder in Gastonia and served nearly seven years in prison for manslaughter.
