Gastonia man finds frozen frog inside bag of okra

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia man was trying to cook dinner for his family when he found a frozen frog nestled in a bag of okra.

The Gaston Gazette took photos of Edward Vargas with the frog.

Vargas told the Gazette that his 10-year-old son spotted the amphibian first.

Vargas contacted the vegetable company immediately about the offending frog.

A company representative called Vargas Monday, apologizing for what happened. "They were really concerned," Vargas said.

The company sent him a cooler packed with dry ice to send back the vegetables and foreign object Tuesday.

He said he doesn't want to cause an uproar, but wants to warn others to check frozen food before cooking it, just in case.
