CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Part of Independence Boulevard in east Charlotte is shut down after a hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning involving a tanker truck.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m. in the outbound lanes of Independence Boulevard, near Eastway Drive.
Officers told Channel 9 that a tractor-trailer hauling fuel collided with another vehicle, but the driver of that other car drove off without stopping.
Roughly 100 gallons of fuel spilled onto Independence Boulevard before the driver was able to stop the leak.
Nobody was hurt and police have not released a description of the other vehicle.
Police had to block the outbound lanes while crews cleaned up the crash scene but were able tor reopen the road around 6 a.m.
