How this Charlotte brewery is going nationwide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s Lenny Boy Brewing Co. is ramping up production of its organic kombucha with a roughly $300,000 investment.

That includes a new bottling line specific to kombucha as well as a 30% increase in fermentation capacity, says owner Townes Mozer.

“This is going to make us nationally competitive,” he adds. “From here, we really start to talk to some of the bigger chains.”

The organic kombucha-and-beer brewer is located at 3000 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte.

The new packaging line comes with benefits for Lenny Boy — and the consumer. It replaces 12-ounce amber beer bottles with a 14-ounce clear version that can be resealed. It also ramps up production, churning out up to 50 bottles a minute compared to 12 per minute previously.
