Huge residential development in Kings Mountain approved

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A sprawling residential project that is expected to draw a nine-figure investment has secured a key approval.

On Tuesday, Kings Mountain City Council approved a rezoning request by R.D. Harrell Co. for Cannon 35. The project calls for the development of 730 residential units between Kings Mountain Boulevard and Crocker Road. The total investment in the project is expected to reach $120 million, developer Dean Harrell told the Charlotte Business Journal last week.

The council voted to rezone a 57-acre site for the project after concluding a public hearing that spanned two meetings.
