HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Several rooms of a Huntersville hotel were damaged after a small fire broke out early Tuesday, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were called around 5 a.m. to the Candlewood Suites on Northcross Drive, just off Sam Furr Road, and found flames in a first-floor hallway.

The hotel was evacuated and crews put out the fire quickly.
Nobody was hurt but officials said there was significant water and smoke damage in the hallway and to several rooms.
Smoke conditions spread to all three floors. It was unclear what started the fire.
