The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is searching for a man who escaped during an afternoon work assignment.
Ronald Pritt, 35, was a minimum-custody inmate at Piedmont Correctional Institute in Salisbury.
Pritt was working as a groundskeeper outside the prison fence when he disappeared.
Corrections and law enforcement officials said he was last seen at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Anyone who has seen Pritt or has information on his whereabouts should call 911.
