CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Interstate 40 in Catawba County has reopened after being shut down due to several crashes Friday afternoon, officials said.
The most serious crash involved a motorcycle near where the interstate crosses Highway 70 in Hickory. Troopers said the motorcyclist slammed into a truck when traffic had slowed for another wreck where a car caught fire.
The motorcyclist was flown to a hospital for their injuries after a medical helicopter landed on the interstate.
Channel 9 has reached out to Highway Patrol for more information on the crashes. No other details have been released at this point.
