CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s women’s basketball team turned an idea into an activity for action.
They decided to honor George Floyd and bring awareness to police brutality by encouraging 8 minutes and 46 seconds of activity -- the length of time former officer Derek Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck.
They want people to walk, bike or run for 8 minutes and 46 seconds or 8.46 miles.
