‘It’s history’: UNCC community gears up for school’s first bowl game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — History is in the making for the University of North Carolina Charlotte’s Football team -- on Friday, they will play their first bowl game ever!

The team is already in the Bahamas, but in Charlotte, students and alumni are having a tough time finding gear to support the team.

Dave Cook with Americana Sports opened the only off-campus spot that sells officially licensed bowl gear. He said the company that owns the licensing asked if he could provide the gear because they couldn’t turn it around fast enough for the game.

“You have such a short window, even with the Rose Bowl, we have a bigger window,” Cook said. We have until about the 27th of December, a lot of those bowls. This is one of the first bowls. It’s history and when they win, it will be more historical to make it to a bowl and win it."
