CHARLOTE, N.C. — Rob Clement invested $1,300 to launch his pop-up Jewish deli, Meshugganah, last September.
He sold 16 sandwiches during its first outing. Last week’s event saw 50 sandwiches sold in an hour, highlighting the need for a permanent home for the concept.
“It just caught fire,” Clement says. “Our capabilities are limited by a lack of space. We’re having to get super creative with how we do things to be able to serve the food we want.”
A full-service, scratch deli will allow Clement to reach a greater audience, while offering his take on Jewish cuisine. It will dish up breakfast and lunch.
