KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Kannapolis city leaders will consider plans to buy a $228,000 double-decker carousel at Monday night's city council meeting.
Channel 9's partners at the Independent Tribune report that the purchase is part of the county's development plan for Village Park.
The carousel under consideration is a 1991 Bertazzon Carousel manufactured in Italy. It has 570 lights, Brazilian oak decking and hand-painted Venetian murals. The carousel would be housed under a structure measuring 60 feet in diameter.
There are no other double-decker carousels in North Carolina -- the closest is in Savannah, Georgia.
