CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A kitten crying for help was rescued from a storm drain by bicyclists in southwest Charlotte on Sunday.
They were riding their route near Tyvola Road and West Boulevard when they heard a sound from beneath them.
The cyclists turned around and found the storm drain in the street, and through the grate in the drain they saw the kitten.

They went by the Charlotte Humane Society and were lent a trap baited with canned cat food. Within 30 minutes, the kitten was in the trap.
The cyclists said that when they went back to get the kitten, neighbors told them they heard the cat for about a week and had been feeding it.

When they contacted animal control, they said they were told the kitten was considered to be a feral cat. Animal control said they would keep the kitten for five days, but if they don't find owner, they would have to put her down or they could take it and have it spayed and re-released.
The cyclists decided to get it checked out by their vet.
Now, they are trying to socialize it, get it de-fleaed and hope to find someone to adopt it.
