Krispy Kreme, Biscoff cookies maker Lotus Bakeries unite products made in NC

CHARLOTTE — There’s just something delicious about two internationally known products, both made in North Carolina, coming together for a national rollout.

Krispy Kreme was founded some 86 years ago in Winston-Salem and is now headquartered in Charlotte. Lotus Bakeries, meanwhile, is a 91-year-old Belgian company that makes its popular Biscoff cookies in Mebane. The pair recently announced the launch of three new doughnuts that combine Krispy Kreme and Lotus products for the first time.

Starting last week, Krispy Kreme began offering for a limited time the Biscoff Doughnut Collection at its shops across the U.S., combining its own Original Glaze with Lotus’ Cookies and Cookie Butter, known for its caramelized cookie taste. The Biscoff cookies are known worldwide, especially among travelers accustomed to getting them on airline flights.
