• UPDATE: Police ID suspect in Lincolnton bank robbery

    LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. - Police are searching for Jean Pierre Gendron, 49, who they said robbed the Peoples Bank in Lincolnton.
     
    The robbery happened around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at 760 W. Highway 27. Officials said Gendron presented a note to the teller demanding money. The man also told the teller, “Give me all of the money and no dye packs or I will shoot you.”
     
    He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
     
    Police described the robber as having blue eyes and multiple tattoos, including the word jade on his back. He has an extensive criminal background and is considered dangerous.
     
    Police said he was driving a stolen burgundy 2004 Nissan Altima with N.C. license plate ZWK-5567.
