Man arrested, accused of carjacking elderly woman outside recreation center

GRANITE FALLS, N.C. — Caldwell County deputies arrested a man accused of carjacking an 82-year-old woman outside the Granite Falls Recreation Center.

Milton Horton is charged with common law robbery.

Channel 9 spoke to the victim, Joann McClean, after she said she was attacked while walking on trails near the recreation center last month.

McLean said she was getting ready to unlock her car when she was grabbed, thrown to the ground, and the suspect took off in her vehicle. The attack was captured on surveillance video.

Horton is also accused of trying to break into Sawmills Elementary School last month.
